If a Sonia Online user is having trouble logging in to Sonia Online, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Ask if they are selecting the right role
- Look at their profile in the client to see if they have a username
- Ensure their username does not include an extra space at the beginning or end of their username
- Ensure another user does not have the same username
To check the last item above, open the search page of the role of that user; e.g., open the Students module, and click the Search tab at the top. Follow the sequence in the screenshot below to filter that user's username.

Can a Site contact (user) login to multiple 'containers' across a university within the one Sonia Online account or do they require multiple logins (usernames)?
Hi, Wendy -
They have a separate login for each school. The reason for this is that each school can customize their own portals.
Thanks Abigail I understand they would need a login in for each 'portal'. Generally the username is the email address- can this be the same? If each portal has the same email as a login how would this work from from the site contact sonia online viewpoint? Would they have to ensure they use each of the school (portal) specific links to login?
Good question. The username does need to be unique for each school. The site contact would need to be mindful of which school they are logging into and so which username to use.
The exception would be if the schools are sharing the site. In this case, the site contact would only need one username to be used across each school with which it is shared.
Thanks Abigail, can I clarify when you say the login has to be "unique for each school" do you mean unique across all schools/portals unless the site is shared?
Yes, that is correct. So, if the site is not shared, one school might give the contact their email address as their username, and another school might use the username (before the @) part of their email, and another school might use first initial+last name.
